Knauf invests in plaster recycling

Construction materials manufacturer Knauf has announced the creation of a joint venture dedicated to gypsum recycling in France, in partnership with Ritleng Revalorisations and HL Développement, with the aim of securing a supply of recycled gypsum while developing industrial circular economy solutions for the construction sector. The project is based on the construction of a new gypsum recycling plant in Auneuil, in the Oise region, scheduled to start operations in the first half of 2026 and which, according to Ritleng Revalorisations, will become the largest authorized facility of its kind in Europe. With this second unit, Knauf will be able to process nearly one-third of gypsum waste generated in France, while in the long term a significant share of the recycled gypsum will be supplied to its Saint-Soupplets plant in Seine-et-Marne, thereby reducing reliance on natural resources. This initiative also aims to limit the environmental footprint of production and strengthen supply chain security, with the partners already considering further projects in France and internationally to expand this industrial model.
