German wood products manufacturer Mocopinus has announced the cessation of its activities after failing to find an investor to take over the company, despite several months of searches and negotiations carried out under a self-administered insolvency procedure. As no comprehensive takeover offer was made, with interested parties mainly focusing on certain real estate assets, the management was unable to identify an economically viable solution to maintain industrial operations and jobs, in a context marked by ongoing challenges in the construction and timber industry. The company therefore plans a gradual wind-down of production at its Karlsruhe and Ammelshain sites in order to fulfil existing orders and clear inventory, with deliveries expected to continue for several more months before the final closure of the sites. Nearly 270 employees are affected by this decision, while the Lignum-Finish subsidiary in Aitrach is not impacted at this stage, as discussions about its future are still ongoing; Mocopinus specializes in processed wood products for façades, terraces, and interior design.
