A historic residence facing the Gulf of Saint-Tropez: Verticale Concept reinvents the Château Rose

In Grimaud, overlooking the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, the Château Rose is beginning a new life. Formerly a shady establishment, a hotbed of libertinism, then squatted and largely degraded over a decade of abandonment, this 19th-century residence has been completely renovated and now houses a luxurious four-star hotel designed as a characterful stopover celebrating contemporary elegance and design. Led by Pascal Ranger, already at the helm of many iconic establishments in the region, the project is part of the desire to anchor a new prestigious address in the heart of the Var heritage. After the restructuring of the building carried out by architect Arnaud Sequier, the development was entrusted to interior designer Sylvie Hakim-Ranger and her firm Verticale Concept, who reinterpreted the soul of the place. Each room pays homage to a figure or a universe linked to the history of the house: Senator Louis Sigallas through references to the earth and plants, Sacha Guitry in an Art Deco spirit, the sea and its horizons for the rooms opening onto the bay, or even... swinging, in a subtle reminder of the naughty past of the country house.

The interior is structured around 18 unique rooms and suites, blending the charm of the old building with the contemporary lines of meticulously chosen furniture. The great names of European design – Moroso, Zanotta, Living Divani, Kristalia, Lema, Zieta, Vincent Sheppard, Thierry Vidé, Ingo Maurer, Petracer and Cotto Estrusco, Moab and Nic… – rub shoulders with noble materials such as African walnut, aged steel, enameled terracotta, porcelain stoneware or quartz, and others more modern or more trendy like Corian or natural bamboo. The spacious and bright bathrooms offer an aesthetic that is both elegant and contemporary. The corridors are adorned with custom-made tapestries with evocative patterns, created by Neodko, while the rooms are extended by terraces overlooking either a soothing Mediterranean garden or the majesty of the gulf. The works of the duo Man & Pia add a poetic and musical touch, giving each space a unique personality.

Refinement, clean lines, tranquility... these are just some of the adjectives that describe both the rooms and the common areas. The Baie des Voiles restaurant, run by Michelin-starred chef Christophe Chiavola, enhances the quest for local identity with a Mediterranean menu nourished by the estate's vegetable garden, while the swimming pool, lined with century-old olive trees, and the panoramic rooftop complete this architectural setting. Each space, from the living room to the family suite, has been designed as a showcase, where the simplicity of the lines highlights the richness of the materials and the light of the Var. More than a hotel, it is a reinvented house of character, where luxury is lived in simplicity and where every detail recalls the history of a place now turned towards the future.
