Organized by Tile of Spain, the Ceramic Awards for Architecture and Interior Design have announced the winners of their 24th edition. This international competition annually recognizes architectural and interior design projects that showcase the use of Spanish-made ceramics. The 2025 edition introduced new subcategories and highlighted projects illustrating the material's versatility, from industrialized housing to heritage restoration.
In the Architecture (A-A) category, the Marratxí House project, designed by the firm Casas inHAUS, caught the jury's attention for its industrialized approach to housing. Here, ceramics become a true architectural skin, used as the sole material to create visual continuity between interior and exterior and demonstrate the relevance of tiles in prefabrication processes.
2. The Architecture Prize (A-B) was awarded to Pemán y Franco Arquitectos and Sebastián Arquitectos for the renovation of the Santa Maria de Sigena Monastery. This heritage restoration is distinguished by a floor of triangular tiles laid with slight irregularities, creating a pattern reminiscent of the monastery's history and architecture.
3. In the Interior Design category (I-A), the jury awarded the Brickell Penthouse Miami, designed by François Guglielmina of TOGU Miami Design. Inspired by American urban aesthetics, this project features large ceramic tiles in mineral tones that capture natural light and structure an interior with a strong character.
4. Finally, the Interior Design Prize (I-B) was awarded to Boc Beach, a hotel in Palma de Mallorca designed by the firm Il Mio Design. Influenced by the spirit of the 1960s, the project combines colors, textures, and various tile formats from floor to wall, creating a dynamic composition that ensures visual continuity between interior and exterior spaces. Three special mentions in interior design were also awarded to El Equipa Creativo for the Kimpton Los Monteros Hotel in Marbella 5, to Studio Ruiz Velazquez for Lapis Domus, a Techlam showroom in Nules, near Valencia 6, and once again to Il Mio Design for the Hipotels Don Juan in the Balearic Islands 7.
